AlbartThe Fish
Around 85 carp, picked one by one for their beauty and their growth potential, in two acres of deep Normandy water.
Albart's stock wasn't bought by the netful. Every carp was chosen by eye.
We looked for two things in each fish: the frame to grow big in this water, and the kind of looks that stop you when you lift the net. Deep bodies, clean fins, striking scale patterns. Carp worth photographing on the day you catch them, and worth coming back for in the years that follow.
The new fish are already secured and resting in a holding pond close by. They move into Albart in the coming weeks, which gives them the whole winter to settle in, learn the lake and start feeding with confidence.
The finest of Albart's original fish, joined by a new generation chosen for size and beauty.
Around twenty carp from the lake's original stock stay on, and they're the pick of it: the most beautiful fish between 15 and 28 lb, born to this water and completely at home in it. With our feeding programme now in place, they're finally set to reveal their full potential, and there are surprises to come.
Sixty-five carefully selected carp, averaging over 31 lb, with 11 fish over 40 lb and a top fish over 50 lb. More than twenty are over 35 lb, and several younger fish show exceptional growth potential. They're already reserved and resting in a holding pond, ready for their move to Albart.

At Asgard, the big fish have been known by name for years. At Albart, not one has been named yet.
Bank a fish that has never been caught here and you choose what it's called. Your name goes on the record, your photo opens its story, and every angler who meets that fish after you will know who wrote the first line.
Some of these carp will become the giants people cross the Channel for. The legends of Albart start with the first anglers on its banks.
The first Albart season opens in March 2027. The first anglers on the bank will set the records, and name the fish.
